Top 5 Tips – Get help!

  1. Contact any charity’s that may offer some help. I had a Homestart (http://www.home-start.org.uk/) helper come over. It was nice having someone come for a chat, and to go for walks with she even helped me to a hospital appointment when my husband needed to work.
  2. If you have the means, and are comfortable with the idea, look into hiring a night Nanny. I certainly considered it with one of the SCBU nurses that looked after us. Again these nurses are great for extra paid help. They often work in shifts and look for extra work when they can (but be discrete and its often over their day jobs).
  3. Local colleges can also help. Students training to become nanny’s or nursery trainees are often looking for placements. It never hurts having an extra pair of hands for bathing feeding.
  4. Slightly off topic but equally important, Organisation is vital! Double, triple check you have everything if going out and equally on supplies at home! Always have extra clean clothes and vests!
  5. SLEEP!
